Turbo Dork Zenishift Paints

Zenishifts give you two colour tones from a single bottle. The colour you see depends on the base colour underneath: over black, you get one tone; over white, you get another; and in between, a smooth transition. It's the most versatile type of Turbo Dork paint because the same bottle behaves differently depending on how you use it.

How they work in practice

Spray a model black and then spray white from above. Apply your Zenishift over the whole surface. The paint automatically creates a gradient between the two tones across the transition. No blending skill needed, the base coat does the work. A perfect complement to anyone who loves the Slap Chop method of painting.

This technique is particularly effective for cloaks, wings, and large organic surfaces. If you're batch painting and want visual variety without switching bottles, Zenishifts let you create different effects on different models just by varying the undercoat.

Where to start

If this is your first Zenishift, pick one where you like both tones — the colour swatch on each product page shows the shift over black and white. Prism Power (Pink to Blue) and Hemogoblin(Orange to Green) are good entry points because the dual-tone effect is easy to see.

Pairs well with

A reliable black and white primer is essential for Zenishifts; the shift quality depends on the base. For everything else on the model, Two Thin Coats triads handle the non-Zenishift areas beautifully.
